Saltwater Big Game billfish species include Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, and White Marlin. Other popular species include Sailfish, Dorado(also referred to as Dolphin or Mahi Mahi), and Bluefin Tuna. Most of these species are located offshore in open bluewater. Destinations such as, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Nassau Bahamas, and Australia are world famous for billfishing.

Cobia, King Mackerel, Permit, Jack Crevalle, and Grouper are an excellent species of sportfish for the Gulf fishermen off the coast of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. These species are available on many of the gulf's numerous oil rigs. Inshore trips for Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Largemouth Bass abound as well.
